Steirerkraft Naturprodukte GmbH, founded in 1997, is a subsidiary of Alwera AG. In 2011 Steirerkraft changed its name to Estyria Naturprodukte GmbH. Steirerkraft was retained as a trade name and is now Estyria’s premium brand: it is the best-known brand of pumpkin seed oil in Austria and more or less the epitome of a good, honest, pumpkin seed oil.
Alwera AG started to grow pumpkins in the mid-1990s and is still Estyria’s partner for the production of raw goods. But Estyria and Alwera together have also injected new life into the scarlet runner bean. The first field trials began at the start of the millenium and then in 2003 tinned scarlet runner beans came onto the market. They were followed by Styrian scarlet runner bean soup and in 2016 by the award of the EU’s protected designation of origin (PDO).

In recent years Estyria has increasingly come to focus on high-quality organic products – in close collaboration with PARTNERS IN BIO GMBH its range of dry goods from controlled organic farming is constantly being expanded.
Estyria’s brand portfolio also encompasses the brands Austria pur and Cooks Love and the vitality brand Wertvoll.

The biggest contract grower
of oil pumpkins PGI
Alwera AG, Estyria’s parent company, is responsible for production of the raw goods via a contract farming system. The two companies have for some years maintained the largest PDI area of oil pumpkin in Austria and they know the fields and the farmers personally.
