Steirerkraft premium pumpkin seed oil

Update on the Steirerkraft premium bottle

Best quality arises from the best ingredients. To make its pumpkin seed oil, Steirerkraft uses only the best dark-green, shell-free seeds of the Styrian oil pumpkin. These come exclusively from the PGI growing area – Styria and parts of Lower Austria.

Careful roasting and checking at the hands of our experienced oil millers, gentle pressing using a traditional Styrian stamp press, followed by a resting period before bottling – these are the steps that produce the carefully quality-checked Steirerkraft pumpkin seed oil.

No filtering is involved and strict hygiene standards are observed throughout.

Still 100% pure, still traditionally pressed

However, because of official rules, Styrian pumpkin seed oil PGI can no longer be advertised as “100% pure”. For us, it is the traditional Styrian stamp press process – and the product purity – that form the basis for our product’s outstanding quality and unmistakeable taste. In contrast to the methods used by our competitors, this manufacturing process cannot be regarded as obvious practice, so we intend to seize the opportunity and adapt the label of our premium bottle to emphasise this special feature of the Steirerkraft pumpkin seed oil.

What changes: the label on the premium bottle. What stays the same: 100% Steirerkraft pumpkin seed oil.

The wording “100% pure” on the label will be replaced by “traditionally pressed”. Steirerkraft has always used the traditional Styrian stamp press process, which is what gives the multi-award-winning Styrian pumpkin seed oil PGI its particularly distinctive aroma.

What is changing in terms of product quality or for consumers? Nothing.

Steirerkraft continues to offer purest Styrian pumpkin seed oil PGI, as it should be.

Traditional Styrian
stamp press process

While modernity has brought progress in many areas, the traditional Styrian stamp press process is still the best way of making pumpkin seed oil. The main difference between this and other pressing methods is that we work with open roasting pans. At our plant, people check when the pumpkin seeds are perfectly roasted and so will yield the very best oil. This enables our experienced oil millers to produce the pumpkin seed oil that has won more prizes than any other – and which as a result of this type of pressing retains all the natural constituents. The untreated oil is not filtered; the particles that make it cloudy settle naturally when the oil is left to rest.
