Modern organic puffed grains
Modern organic puffed grains for that special touch
Have you tried Estyria’s puffed grains from controlled organic farming in three different varieties?
More than half of Estyria’s products are already organic. Alongside the classics, such as pumpkin seed oil, pumpkin seeds and scarlet runner beans, Estyria offers a wide range of dry goods comprising a variety of grains, nuts, dried fruits and oil seeds. Today we present the puffed grains in more detail.
Try a different sort of grain – the puffed ancient grains in amaranth, quinoa and teff (dwarf millet) varieties provide a delicious alternative in the modern kitchen to traditional cereal varieties such as wheat, rye, barley and oats. All three varieties have a very special taste and can be used in many ways – for example in muesli, to add a special touch to desserts and as a creative baking ingredient. They are a source of protein that can also be used to great effect to add crispness to savoury dishes such as salads, and they are quickly and easily suitable for direct consumption.

The main difference between this and other pressing methods is that we work with open roasting pans. At our plant, people check when the pumpkin seeds are perfectly roasted and so will yield the very best oil. This enables our experienced oil millers to produce the pumpkin seed oil that has won more prizes than any other – and which as a result of this type of pressing retains all the natural constituents. The untreated oil is not filtered; the particles that make it cloudy settle naturally when the oil is left to rest.
