Information that pays off

We're answering your questions

How are growing areas and agricultural prices developing by comparison with other countries? Are there problems in the growing season? What yields are expected? What are currently the biggest quality-related challenges? What are farmers’ profit margins looking like? Are the stores full or empty?

The more information purchasing managers have about the answers to these questions, the more surely they can guarantee their companies full production lines and shelves of safe, legal raw materials and products at the right price and of the required quality. The best decisions are founded on the best information. In the absence of reliable data, rumours flourish and the wrong decisions end up being taken.

The Alwera AG with its subsidiaries Estyria (food), Partners in Bio (organic food) SZG (breeding), Maviga (Eastern Europe) and Milteco (food technology) is the best in Europe at bringing together knowledge of everything to do with pumpkin seeds. Since our sector is one of those in which fake news often circulates, we decided to publish a twice-yearly special report entirely devoted to pumpkin seeds. We aim to provide succinct, relevant and meaningful information that is tailored to buyers’ information needs and attractively presented.

Traditional Styrian
stamp press process

While modernity has brought progress in many areas, the traditional Styrian stamp press process is still the best way of making pumpkin seed oil. The main difference between this and other pressing methods is that we work with open roasting pans. At our plant, people check when the pumpkin seeds are perfectly roasted and so will yield the very best oil. This enables our experienced oil millers to produce the pumpkin seed oil that has won more prizes than any other – and which as a result of this type of pressing retains all the natural constituents. The untreated oil is not filtered; the particles that make it cloudy settle naturally when the oil is left to rest.
