Estyria’s review of the year 2020

Estyria looks back at a challenging year

As a food-producing company, Estyria makes an important contribution to the current situation and this year it has faced particular challenges. Our staff have done outstanding and extraordinary work. For example, they have:

  • by now produced 200% of the usual quantity of canned goods.
  • in one month, received three times the usual number of orders in our online shop and despatched them all over Europe.
  • created 18 new jobs, despite the coronavirus crisis.
  • spent 0 days on short-time work.
  • within 24 hours, transferred more than 40 people, with the right technical equipment, from working in the office to working from home.
  • in one day, packaged around 60 tonnes of grains, pumpkin seeds and nuts using the tubular bag machine.

It is clear that for Estyria Naturprodukte GmbH, as for many companies, this year has not gone as expected. We are therefore particularly pleased that so many people have responded to this year’s Estyria customer survey and we should like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who took part. Your time and your feedback are hugely valuable to us and help us to continue improving the way we work with our customers!

Particularly gratifying this time were the high return rate and the general satisfaction with our Estyria staff. Estyria constantly scores well in terms of accessibility, friendliness and reliability, professional expertise, helpfulness and flexibility. The company is also noted for its high production standards.

However, the customer survey shows that there is still room for improvement in communication with freight forwarders: this is something that we shall be working on.

Traditional Styrian
stamp press process

While modernity has brought progress in many areas, the traditional Styrian stamp press process is still the best way of making pumpkin seed oil. The main difference between this and other pressing methods is that we work with open roasting pans. At our plant, people check when the pumpkin seeds are perfectly roasted and so will yield the very best oil. This enables our experienced oil millers to produce the pumpkin seed oil that has won more prizes than any other – and which as a result of this type of pressing retains all the natural constituents. The untreated oil is not filtered; the particles that make it cloudy settle naturally when the oil is left to rest.
