In 2026, Estyria Naturprodukte GmbH once again took part in the world’s leading organic trade fair in Nuremberg. This year, the company presented a special product innovation: its new organic pumpkin seed butter.
Processing several thousand tons of pumpkin seeds annually, with an organic share of nearly 50 percent and an export rate of 66 percent, Estyria consistently focuses on quality, regional sourcing, and sustainable growth. The trade fair once again provided the ideal platform to strengthen existing partnerships and initiate new, long-term collaborations – particularly within the organic segment.
Organic Pumpkin Seed Butter: A Regional Superfood Reimagined
The highlight of the trade fair appearance was the presentation of the new organic pumpkin seed butter. This product innovation builds on the continuing growth trend in the nut butter category and transfers it to a regional raw material – Styrian organic pumpkin seeds.
Strong Impulses for the Organic Industry
Around 2,200 exhibitors and nearly 32,000 trade visitors turned the fair into an international meeting point for the organic sector. Intensive discussions, clear market impulses, as well as trends and start-ups demonstrated how resilient and dynamic the organic industry continues to be.
For Estyria, BIOFACH was once again a complete success this year. Personal exchanges, many familiar faces, and numerous new contacts underline the importance of this trade fair for the company’s ongoing strategic development.

of oil pumpkins PGI
Alwera AG, Estyria’s parent company, is responsible for production of the raw goods via a contract farming system. The two companies have for some years maintained the largest PDI area of oil pumpkin in Austria and they know the fields and the farmers personally.

Traditional Styrian
stamp press process
While modernity has brought progress in many areas, the traditional Styrian stamp press process is still the best way of making pumpkin seed oil. The main difference between this and other pressing methods is that we work with open roasting pans. At our plant, people check when the pumpkin seeds are perfectly roasted and so will yield the very best oil. This enables our experienced oil millers to produce the pumpkin seed oil that has won more prizes than any other – and which as a result of this type of pressing retains all the natural constituents. The untreated oil is not filtered; the particles that make it cloudy settle naturally when the oil is left to rest.
